Vol.10 Ice Climbing In Japan. 『米子不動』

すっかり温かくなり、あたくしは3月というのに半ズボンを出しました。
公園の陽だまりにて、ビールを飲むのが心地よい季節ですね。
上から読んでも下から読んでも、どうもBOBです。

今回は本州最大規模の氷瀑である『米子不動爆』をご紹介いたします。

Hey guys It's Bob here.This blog is about [Yonakohudoubaku]米子不動爆　which is one of the largest ice falls in mainland Japan.

■米子不動爆とは
長野県の須坂、根子岳の米子川源流、四阿山の北麓の懸崖に並んでかかる、
不動滝（落差85メートル）・権現滝（落差75メートル）2滝の総称であり、
滝の下にある米子不動尊は、「米子のお不動さん」として庶民の信仰を
集める日本三大不動尊の一つと言われ、今でも修験者の道場となっています。

About Yonakohudoubaku

It consists of two water falls including Hudoudaki(85m) and Gongendaki(75m). The bottom of the water fall is still worshiped by the public and also used as a training site among the monks.

Hudoutaki,Kurotaki, Kachizachi yama,Kachikachi yama migi,Seirogan and Hyakusougan the name of the lines from the left on the photo above.

 Gonngenndaki can't be seen in this photo as it locates on the left side of the Hudoudaki.

※According to the website Hudoudaki in Yonekohudou isn't allowed to climb due to the religious reason.

■アプローチ

　林道の除雪終了点に車を止めてアプローチは3h程（積雪によって大幅に変化！）
林道と杣道、尾根をうまく歩きアプローチ。今回は2hでベースとなる場所に着きました。
ベースの傍には水が流れており、快適です。

■Approach

After parking a car at the end of the area of cleared snow, it will take about 3 hours to the base area.(Time varies depending on the amount of snow left) It only took us 2 hours in this time. A nice stream is running by the base and it is quite comfortable to stay there.

〔ベースからの眺め〕( View from the base)

ベースから氷瀑まではさらに1h程。
カナダのスケールと比較すればかなり小さいようですが、
スタイリッシュで見た目に個性的な氷瀑がたくさんあります。
いくつかご紹介いたします。

An hour hike from the base lead us to the ice falls. In comparison to Canadian ice falls scale,you might find it quite small but there are numerous falls that are stylish and got unique appearances. Now let me introduce a few lines here.

〔龍神〕(Ryuujin)

見た目以上に難しい。

Harder than it appears.

〔左：アナコンダ・右：コブラ〕

(Left :Anaconda,Right:Cobra)

アナコンダ：最終ピッチが意外に立ってて長い！

Anaconda: The last pitch was longer and steeper than I expected!

〔阿修羅〕

(Asyura)

見た目以上に登り易い。

Easier to climb than it looks like.

〔夜叉〕

(Yasya)

パンプした上部ではアームバーが有効でした。

Arm bar was the useful technique when I got pumped at the upper part.

〔不動戻し〕

(Hudoumodoshi)

見た目以上に登りずらい。

アックスじゃなくてサンドペーパー付きの手袋とか使えば楽に登れそうです。

Looks easy but actually it is a quite challenging one.

The rough surface made me think it might be way easier to climb using a pair of gloves made of the sand paper rather than using axes.

〔どぜうの詩〕

(Dojyou no uta)

見た目どおり、ずーーーっと立ってます。ちなみに、どじょうと読みます。
パートナーは表面のキノコをずーっと落としてて大変そうでした。

氷瀑周辺の爆裂帯にはクラックが走っており、そこを登るのも楽しそうです。
もう少し通って、コブラとか黒滝も登りたいです。今季はもう行けないかな。。

三寒四温な天気の巡り、山の感覚がぼけますね。
日向ぼっこしながら公園でビールなんて飲んでちゃだめですよ。笑
まだまだウィンターシーズンを楽しんで行きましょう。

As you can see this one was pretty steep. My partner was struggling with the falling surface of the line.

There were some crack lines in this area and all of them seem to be quite interesting lines.I wish we still have more time to try Cobra and Kurotaki for this season but it's getting warm in Japan in March so maybe not for this year.
