Hey guys, It's Hoshino here to introduce this week's link up blog. vol.9
普段こんなのあまり見かけませんよね？これは妻が撮ってきた写真です。初めこの写真を見た時、教会かと思いました。屋根の上から延びる雪が十字架に見えませんか？でも、これは山中にある緊急避難小屋だそうです。ま～「やばい時に駆け込む」と言う意味では一緒かもしれませんね！？山の中には普段見れないものが沢山あります。
Isn't it such an unique looking building? This photo was taken by my wife. First time when she showed this to me,I thought this was a church. The snow pillar extending toward the sky was like a cross for me. Later, it turned out to be an emergency evacuation hut. This is why I like mountains and natures,they always create beautiful things and those give us the opportunities to see things from outside of the box.
道北地方は暖かくなったり、まだ寒かったり。まさかの雨が降った後に大雪が降ったり。なんだかよくわかりませんが、冬も終わりに近づいているのかな？と思っています。
Same as Canada of this year,in Hokkaido, it gets warm and then some days still get cold. We got some surprisig rainy days followed by heavy snowy days. Nobody can predict but it gives us the idea of end of the winter soon.
僕はと言えば、前回も書いた通り、今年からアイスクライミングを始めたので、休みの日はアイスクライミング中心に遊んでいますが、北海道に住んでいて「パウダーを滑らずに冬を終わる訳がありません！」という事で、先日スキーに行ってきました。
For me, since I just started ice climbing this year most of my focus in this season is climbing beautiful ice walls.
BUT, Why don't I take an advantage of living in one of the best powder snow skiing ares in the world!!!!!!?????????? Therefore, we headed to skiing last week:)
まず行ったのは名寄市にあるピヤシリスキー場。
天気が悪かったので山に入るのはやめてゲレンデでパウダーを滑りまくる！と言う作戦です！
この看板はテンション上がりますね～！「極上のパウダーがここにありますよ～」って事です。
First, we went to the Piyashiri ski resourt. As the weather was not in favour to us, we decided to hit the ski resourt indtead of doing backcountry skiing.
The red sign in the photo says [THE BEST SNOW QUALITY IN JAPAN], Oh this is such an intriguing!!
そして、予想通りゲレンデ内パウダー祭り！平日は人も少なく、１０時から１６時までずっとパウダー滑れました。ゲレンデ最高！沢山滑れるし。歩かなくていいし。
WOW!!! This place didn't dissapoint us at all!! As it was on the weekdays there were less people and we took advantages of the powder snow all day from 10am to 4pm! I love this, here we don't need to carry stuff around like in mountains!!

俺は新潟産まれ！ベタ雪育ち！ナイターの時は大体ガチガチ～
だったので、ここ道北の雪質には本当に驚いています。
Yes, I was born in the other area of Japan, where has damp snow and frozen slope at night.So this is just a pure surprise for me that we have such a best powder snow in Japan!!
どんだけ驚いているのか？と言いますと
滑っていて雪の抵抗をほぼ全くと言っていいほど感じません。
バフバフでは無くフワフワです。
地元のおじさんの話では、子供の頃に雪ダルマを作ったり、雪合戦をして遊んだ記憶は無いそうです。雪に湿り気が無いので固まらないって事ですね。まさにドライパウダー！
スキー場内は一日中、ナイターでさえも、雪は柔らかいです。転んでも痛くない！むしろ気持ちいい！？
同じ北海道で岩見沢市産まれの妻でさえ、道北の雪の軽さには驚いています。まさに雪質日本一！
Let me explain how much I was amazed. It didn't make me feel the resistance of snow at all while skiing. It is fluffy. Most of the other places in Japan have damp snow which made the snow to be suitable for making snow balls as the water content helps to make and keep the shape. Yet the snow in here we won't be able to make snow balls at all, it just breaks itsef.
In this resort, the snow is always soft even at the night, it won't get frozen or icy and when you fall you won't feel pain moreover I felt the snow catched me in a nice and comfortable way.
Even for my wife who was born in Hokkaido, the condition of snow is still surprising. The sign nailed it.
ピヤシリスキー場、コース外滑走は結構厳しいみたいです。リフト係に見つかって怒られた話や、パトロールに追っかけられたと言う話を聞きました。
でも滑った跡はあちこちにあります。あなたはどうする？
I just need to warn you that Piyashiri ski resort has a strict rule for banning the ski outside of the designated area. I know it's attractive and there are mark of other people skied...Well please be considerate to the rules.
次の日も天気は悪かったのですが、ちょっと山に入ってみようという事で、十勝岳エリアの三段山に登ってみました。
We didn't have a good weather the next day as well,but we decided to give it a try by heading to Mt.Tokachi.
が、、結局、視界不良のため三本のシラカバまで行って帰ってきました。
BUT, the weather got worse and couln't see any further so we decided to head back.
また天気が良い日に行きたいと思います。
Wish we still get tha chance to go agin.
今回ピヤシリスキー場と三段山で、何人かの他国からのスキーヤーに会いました。
季節が反対のオーストラリアやニュージーランドの人が沢山来ているのは分かるのですが、アメリカのアラスカやコロラド、カナダのバンクーバーやゴールデンと世界有数のスキーエリアに住んでいる人達も滑りに来ていました。
そして、みなさん口を揃えて言っていたのが「こんなに軽い雪は初めてだ～」でした。
日本一の雪質は世界一の雪質なのかもしれませんね！
まだ北海道で滑った事ない人！是非一度滑りに来てみてはいかがでしょうか？最高ですよ！！
During this short trip, I met a couple of skier from other country.It is understandable that poeple come from countries like Australia and New zealand as they have opposite seasons and might miss snows, but there were people from Alaska, Cololad from States and Golden, Vancouver from Canada where posses one of the best snow all say [ I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH A SOFT SNOW!!!!]
This made me think we might have the best snow here in the world!!!
If have never tried skiing here I strongly reccomend to come and try. This is really THE BEST!!!
帰り道にキタキツネに会いました。「天気悪かったけど、来てみて良かったな」と思いました。
On the way back, I run into a baby red fox. Although the weather was not the best I guess that today's trip was something that worth doing.

今回もカナダです。この写真はSquamishのThe Chiefです。
Squamishにはいくつかのエリアがありますが、ここがメインエリアです。
麓にキャンプ場があり、夏には世界中から沢山のクライマーが集まります。
ベストシーズンは７月、８月です。Western red cedar (ベイスギ) の森がとても綺麗でした。
This is The Chief in Squamish (Canada).There are multiple climbing areas but this is the center among them. Campsite is located at the bottom and during the summer this became the popular destination among rock climbers. The best time is in July and August. They've got beautiful western red cedar forests.
