２月６、７日の土日に穂高へスキーに行ってきました！
滑ったのは、ここ涸沢カール！
本来の目的ではありませんでしたが、最高のエスケープルートとなりました。
We went to Mt. Hotaka-dake located at the northern Japanese Alps, one of the most popular mountains in Japan with its height 3190m, for skiing at the week end of 6th and 7th of February! This is where we skied, Karasawa cirque! It was not our plan A, but a great plan B.
アプローチは涸沢岳西尾根、クラシックなアルパインのルートです。
写真を中心に今回の山行を振り返っていきます。
West ridge of Mt. Karasawa-dake, a classic mountaineering route, is the one we took for an approach to Mt. Hotaka-dake. Here, we look back the weekend with some pictures.
初日は８時過ぎにのんびりスタート。
新穂高より白出沢まで林道をゆき、西尾根に取付きます。
雪が安定していれば白出沢を詰めるなんていう選択肢もありそうですが、今回は安全第一。
シールでは厳しい急で藪っぽい斜面をなんとか登りつめ、2350m地点で幕営しました。
Started the first day slowly past 8am. Taking a forestry road to Shirodashi-sawa creek, we reached the start of West Ridge. We might have had an easier approach using Shirodashi-sawa route if snow were stable, but it wasn't this time. Struggling in a steep and bushy forrest, we hiked up with skies and pitched a tent.
翌朝、素晴らしい天気に恵まれました。
It was a glorious morning on the next day.
手前右に槍ヶ岳へと続く飛騨沢、奥に黒部の山々が見渡せます。
飛騨沢はやや藪が濃いように見えます。
これからのデブリでもう少し埋まるでしょう。
We see Hida-sawa Creek leading to Mt. Yarigatake, 3,180m in the right and mountains of Kurobe region. Hida-sawa looked a little bushier than the average, but would be filled with debris very soon.
こちらは抜戸岳の素晴らしい大斜面。
いつかパウダー期に滑ってみたい山です。
が、この日は大きな破断面が観察されました。
This big slope is that of Mt. Nukedo-dake, 2813m which makes me dream of skiing there with a powder condition though a big crown was observed on the day.
途中痩せ尾根が続くため、スキーは脱ぐ必要があります。
そして、涸沢岳へ取り付きます。
As there is a section of narrow ridge, we had to take off our skies. Then, started climbing Mt. Karasawa-dake 3110m which leads to Mt. Hotaka-dake.
振り返ると自分たちの足跡と素敵な斜面が！

稜線に出ると槍ヶ岳見えました。
左側の一番尖っているピークがそれです。
Sharp peak on the left is Mt. Yarigatake.
先日ボブが紹介してくれた滝谷。
今回一緒だったカンテガやボブなら滝谷クライムアンドライド、できるかなぁ～。
その場合、僕はフォローでお願いしたい（笑）。
This face is the Takitani, a classic alpine climbing area of Japan which Bob introduced the other day. Kantega who was one of our buddies this time and Bob might be able to climb and ski the face maybe. I'd love to belay and follow in that case!
稜線に出ると、穂高岳の山頂が見えました！
が、強風。。。
涸沢岳の山頂にタッチする間もなく、急いで穂高岳山荘へ走ります。
Finally we could see the Mt. Hotaka-dake when we reached the main ridge, but pretty windy... Ran down to the Hotaka-dake Hut without touching the summit of Mt. Karasawa-dake.
冬季避難小屋を探すも見つからず、、、
入口は埋まってしまったのだろうか。
当初は奥穂の山頂へ向かう予定だったが、風が強いのでテントを張って休憩する。
一時間以上待ったが、風は止む気配がない。
My fellows are digging snow to find a winter shelter of the hut which was in vain. It seemed the entrance was buried. We again pitched a tent and waited for the wind to become calm as we had planned to go to the summit which went also in vain.
仕方なく涸沢へ滑り込みます！
So, there was no other choice but stop climbing and skiing down Karasawa cirque!
素晴らしい大斜面。

こちらは昨秋の涸沢カール。
大きな涸沢ヒュッテがあり、カラフルな点がテント。
ハイシーズンは大賑わい。
This is the same cirque last autumn where a big hut stands with many people. Small colorful dots are tents. It is especially crowded when the leaves change their colors.
この日の涸沢は静寂そのものでした。
Very quiet on this day.
こちらは少しだけ顔を出していましたよ。
Another hut was looking at us.
滑りの後は長～いクロスカントリースキー。
やっぱり横尾は遠いですね。
And then very very long cross-country skiing to get back.
河童橋で振り返ると、狙っていた斜面が見えました。
美しいですが、あからさまな地形の罠をもつ危険な面です。

We could see the face we planned to ski down from Kappa-bashi bridge. Pretty beautiful, but a quite dangerous face with an obivous terrain trap.
大正池が夕焼けの穂高を映していました。
まさにフロムダスクティルドーンな長い充実した一日でした。
また来ます！
Taisho-ike pond was reflecting Hotaka mountains at the end of the day, a day of "from dusk till dawn"... See you again!
