Vol.6 The day of first ascent on「Big Sexy's Yodel 」初登の一日～

皆様こんにちは。今週は暖冬真っ盛りのカナダから山田トシがリンクアップブログ第6話をお送りします。

今回は先日ヨーホー国立公園にあるフィールドというエリアで初登した「Big Sexy's Yodel」の愉快な1日をタイムラインと会話形式で振り返ります。

Hi.Guys. It's Tosh. I'm gonna present you LinkUp blog Vol.6 of this week.

Today's story is about our first ascent of「Big Sexy's Yodel」by Time line and conversational style.

6:00am カルガリー発(眠気と格闘しながらドライブ)

7:30am キャンモア集合

(トシ）「今日どこ行こうか？」

（セバスチャン）以下（セブ）「トシ。フィールドで初登できるかもしれない。俺の友達が今日トライするらしいがもしいなかったら登っちまおうぜ」

「またまたあ～。でも内心興味津々。とりあえず行ってみるか」

9:30am タカカウ滝 駐車場にて

9:45am 車発見!!!!

セブ「まじかあ。やっぱり彼ら来てるわ。でもとりあえず行ってみよう」

トシ「オーケー」

6:00 am left Calgary. Drove while struggling with sleepiness

7:30 am Met Seb at Canmore

Toshi『Where are we going today?』

Seb『Hey Toshi. We might be able to try first ascent today!! My friend was saying that he would try his project today. But If they will not be there,We should try the route.』

  

Toshi

『Haha... Come on,Seb no we can't!!』 But I was so excited and down for the plan. 『Let's go and we'll see 』

9:30am At the Takkakaw Parking lot

9:45 am We found their car!!!

Seb

『Oh my God. They actually came here. Anyway,We should be approching the new line』

Toshi 『Sure』

10:00am Big Sexy's Yodel 歩き始め。

10:30am セバスが歩くの早くてクライミングスタート地点一番乗り。

「ようJ きちゃったぜ」※セバスとJは友達。

　そこでセブの友人と初めて会い自己紹介を行った。

J「なんで今まで誰も来てないのに今日は4人もいるんだよ(笑)」

全員「さあどうしようか？」

　　「とりあえず4人で登るか?」

「ロープは三本でギアはこれだけで・・・ごにょごにょ・・・」

10:00am Approching Big Sexy's Yodel

Seb became the first person to get to the starting point of climbing. He always walks faster than anyone and then Seb's friends arrived shortly after.

Toshi introduced himself to Seb's frinds and it was the first time we met and spoke.

Seb 『How's going J?? I'm coming!!』

J(Seb's friend)『Why four people are here today!? Nobady has ever climbed here in the history of Canadian Rockies』  

Everybody『What should we do?』

         『Anyway, We are a team now four of us』

         『Okay, so we'll bring three ropes and these gears....and so on...』

11am セバス 1ピッチ目登り出し。

11am Seb was battling his way up on First pitch(30m)with poor protection options.

プロテクション(クライマーが落ちた時に止めるもの)がほとんど取れず。奮闘。氷柱の下まで30m登る。

1pm Jが2ピッチ目登り出し。

J climbed on Crux Pitch with delicate hooking and smearing.(2nd pitch)

デリケートなフッキング(アックスを岩や氷にに引っ掛けること)とスメアリング(靴底を岩に押し付けること。今回はクランポンの爪を岩に押し付けること)が必要な難しいセクション。20m登る。

4pm クライミング終了点。

私が40mのアイスクライミングをして終了点でJを迎える。

I met J at the anchor after I finished 40m ice climbing of last pitch.

トシ「Jごめん。終了点で残置スリング(懸垂下降の支点にした紐のこと。前に登った人がいるという痕跡)見つけちゃたわ」

Toshi『I'm sorry J. Unfortunetely I found the old sling in this tree.』

J「まじかあ」

『Really??』

Jがピカピカのスリングを見て。

J was looking at the shiny sling which I showed to him with sad face.

J「これがその残置か？」

『Is this the one?』

J「なんでこんなピカピカなんだ？」

『Why this looks so new sling???』

「つい最近誰か登ったのか！？」

『Oh...someone just climbed this route recently...????」

トシ「ジョークだよー(笑い)。これ俺のスリング。ニヤニヤ」

Toshi『I'm Just kidding J.It's mine!!』 smiling in my face.

J「おい。びっくりさせるなよ。やったな。」

J&トシ「わははははは」

『Hey!!! Come on!!! Don't surprise me!!!! Well done!!Toshi!!!』

『hahahahaha』

本当に愉快な一日でした。ロッキーにいると世界中のクライマーと知り合え、ともに登ることができます。初対面のクライマーとこんな経験ができることはもうないことかもしれません。クライミングは言語の壁を超えるというのは本当だと思った1日でした。

I can say it was the one of the best days in my life. It was not just because we climebed new route but the fact that people from other part of the world met in the Rockies and climbed together. It was a such a precious time. This made me strongly beleive that climbing can make us able to climb over the language barrier.
